So today I donated blood for the 4th time WOOOOOOOOOOO! Does this make me a veteran or something? Lolnope I am forever a noob no matter what I do. D: But y’know, at least I saved 3 lives…
Ran outta class 10 mins early so i could catch an earlier bus (which I honestly didn’t even need to catch but I hate riding the bus with obnoxious other high school kids omg. Especially juniors I just wanna slap them D:<) so I ended up getting to Town Hall at 1.30ish. So then I just chilled at the donation centre for half an hour until my appointment was scheduled. :P
Actually the guy at reception was really funny. I was talking with him and this other receptionist while I was waiting and omg I laughed so hard I felt all the water I’d been drinking leak into my nephron’s distal tubules and out the collecting duct. For some random reason he started talking about how he thought he was a lot like Caesar.
Me: Except that Caesar was stabbed in the back. Literally. Over 20 times.
Him: Ohgod that’s just like me too. I come to work everyday and look at Maria (other receptionist) and wonder when she’ll steal my job and ruin my life
Maria: We have the same job moron.
And then while I was eating a muffin later he walks into the room, winks at me, and starts talking to the lady manning the kitchenette.
Him: Hey what’re you doing with that knife *points at knife on table*
Her: Huh? I’m making a sandwich…
Him: Ohh, see I thought you’d stabbed me in the back once today already~ *prances off with a smirk on his face while she looks very confused*
So yeah, I think I like the actual centre at Martin Place better, but the nurses/people/food at Town Hall are more awesome? Idk some of the people at Martin Place are really nice too and they tend to be younger but that also means that they’re less experienced and sometimes kinda shit at shoving needles in me…
Ironic that I say that actually…since currently i have holes in both of my arms which makes it 100000x harder to type or do anything.
See the nurse stabbed me in my left arm, and I could actually feel the needle in my vein (which is really weird and uncomfortable but only a bit painful…and is how I spent my last donation at Martin Place) and she prodded it a bit and was like “it feels wrong right? I don’t think this vein is big enough, so I’ll take this out…” So she pulls it out and there’s this nice hole in my arm where blood is coming out and I can’t stop looking at it. Then she apologises profusely, wraps up my arm and I’m just casually like “wanna try the other arm? I don’t really mind since my trials are over.” So she continues to stab my other arm with a new needle and this time I can’t feel the needle sucking out all my blood under my skin and it’s all good. And that my dears, is the story of how I couldn’t bend either of my arms so could probably be considered an invalid until half an hour ago.
Actually there was one other really awesome guy I met today. The donation chair I was originally told to sit on was actually one set up for platelets, so I had to move to another one. While the chair was lowering itself, the platelet donor appeared and was like “pshhh Sydney Girls stealing my seat just like how they all the best university course spots.” Amd omg I laughed so hard.
And yeah so I was moved to the seat next to his and throughout the donation we were chatting. When his nurse came along and was like “want a blanket?” he was like “sure, but give me a sec”, and then got up and proceeded to pull out a jumper, a coat, a scarf and gloves that he wore, sat back down in the seat, and snuggled under the blanket. I honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or go ‘awww’ at the way he looked like one massive caterpillar. In the end I just laughed with his nurse when she said “wow…you sure are prepared for this….” and he totally blushed. And then later when the nurse left to do something he turned to me and was like “I’m not really organised for anything okay? I had a uni assignment due last week at 5 and I finished it 10mins before it was due, stuffed up the printing, and handed it in 3 minutes late. But they still accepted it and I nearly cried in relief….I just get cold easily okay?” and then he blushed even more ahahahahahahahahahaahaha. He’s so funny.
Also I just took off my bandage on my left arm (the arm which I did the whole donation with) and its still bleeding errrmagashhhhh. I think its cos I got stabbed in a weirdly placed vein which gets disturbed whenever I use my wrist muscles? (aka typing, texting, doing freaking anything D;) Lets just hope it clots soon…
